Chris Scholtz - Early Thoughts
R&S Contributing Editor Chris Scholtz takes a look at tomorrow’s Sydney racing.
SELECTIONS
Progressive filly from the Waller stable looks well up to this class coming off a strong BM 70 win over 1250m on the Kensington track at Randwick on January 1 for her second win in just six starts.
Capable of further improvement as she stays down in the weights and appeals as the one to couple with the promising favourite Ljungberg with her 4.5kg edge.
Rosehill Race 7 - 5 Poetic Charmer
Has been in terrific form in his four starts since resuming with two wins and two placings that have him at his peak to produce another first class effort.
Followed an excellent 1400m win at Warwick Farm with a closing second to Samadoubt in this class over 1300m at Randwick on January 1 and that form should hold up well as he goes up only 1kg and will be suited by the drop back in distance in what should be fast run 1200m.
Really want to stay with this Godolphin mare through her prep after her excellent first-up second in this class over 1300m on the Kensington track on January 5 when she could have won with better luck.
This is a suitable assignment for her second-up as the step to 1500m with James McDonald aboard makes appeal based on her form as her distances increased last year.
