Winning Trainer: Ciaron Maher
"It was a really good, positive ride by Mark (Zahra). The team has done a good job to come back off a poor run to pick him up again.
"And, Promises Kept, he's right back to form. Up to the ten furlongs, Smokey (Smokin' Romans)) was better, and Kettle Hill was sneaking home.
On Col McKenna: "He's a great mate. Obviously he's very, very sick, and it's great to get a win.
Future History: "He came out, he got his ticket into the Cup, and he's come back he didn't really come up and prep before, and then he' s run in the Heatherlie, the Naturalism, up to Sydney in a Group 1, and now he's winning back here, back at 2000-metres.
"Not much more you can ask for than a winning horse back here in the spring.
"His record of 2000 is pretty good now. So, good positive ride by Mark, and he went forward, went a nice tempo, and then put him. Quickened up and made the race his own early."
On the last run - Metrop: "Just the way the race unfolded.. I thought he (Wadick) was riding it well, and I was sort of confused. I could see what he was doing. He was counting to five as he was rounding the turn, and they sort of swamped him - race was over.
"I thought, well, you know, that's all sort of hindsight stuff. I thought he was doing the right thing, but it was more just how the race unfolded.
"He could stretch out again."
Winning Jockey: Mark Zahra
"So once I was in front, it was like two laps on the big sand -
"Breathed beautifully, cruising along. So I stepped it up a bit early, but wanted him at the top before we straightened and he won.
Ownership: "I'm good mates with Peter (Trainor), so I'm sure he'll have an extra 16 pints of Guinness tonight, but it's good for everyone to put them in a good spirit."
