Caulfield Cup winning jockey Nick Hall has backed from his biggest career victory to claim a prized country race at Seymour on Sunday.
After Saturday's Caulfield triumph on Fawkner Hall backed up to win Sunday's Seymour Cup on Sysmo for trainer Tony McEvoy.
Hall produced the five-year-old Sysmo late to win the Listed race, going to the line 1.25 lengths clear of Proverb.
"It's not a Caulfield Cup but it's the next best thing on a Sunday at Seymour," Hall said.
"He finished the race off nice and strong. He's got a big turn of foot and might be even better over 2000 metres."
Hall, who was suspended at Caulfield for a ride in one of the support races, said he would have a delayed celebration on Sunday night.
Proverb's owner Sheikh Mohammed sponsored the Seymour Cup and gained consolation for second place at Seymour by winning Victoria's other country feature on Sunday when the Anthony Freedman-trained Cornell beat Isopach in the Horsham Cup.
