Cranbourne trainer Shawn Mathrick has incurred a $4000 fine after pleading guilty over the stomach tubing of Umatic earlier this month.
Mathrick pleaded guilty to stomach tubing Umatic at 10.25am the day prior to his planned run in the Benchmark 70 Handicap (2020m) at Cranbourne on November 8.
The Cranbourne-based trainer was forthcoming in declaring the treatment took place and was merely unaware of the rule which disallows tubing within a certain period prior to a horses scheduled race time.
A study of Mathrick’s treatment book confirmed the treatment was logged and the RAD elected a fine opposed to disqualifying the trainer.
The Racing Appeals And Disciplinary Board issued a fine of $4000 for the breach.
