Late Charge from the Wendy Kelly stable may have run his last race after injuring both front tendons at Caulfield on Saturday.
The four-year-old entire suffered the injury when running 11th behind Trust In A Gust in the Group 1 Toorak Handicap, having shown plenty of promise earlier in the preparation.
Late Charge was being aimed at the 2014 Cox Plate after winning in listed company last month and the injury will no doubt be a big blow to the Kelly stable.
The son of Hard Spun has won four of his 12 starts, amassing almost $200,000 in prizemoney.
