A field of seven will line-up in the listed Tattersall’s Club Cup (2400m) at Randwick on Thursday with Permit going for back to back wins.
Last year Permit carried 58.5kg under Shinn to win over Travolta, but this year after the non-acceptance of stablemate I’m Imposing (GB), who was allocated 61.5kg, the seven-year-old Dansili gelding will carry 58kg. They have barrier five.
Permit’s win last year was the last time he has saluted the judge. He has won eight times in his 48 starts to-date earning over $522,000.
He comes into the race after two poor runs in the listed ATC Cup over 2000m at Rosehill on November 29th and the listed Christmas Cup over 2400m at Randwick on December 13th.
Kevin Moses has last start winner Plutorius with 55kg under Brenton Avdulla and barrier one. The six-year-old Holy Roman Emperor gelding won at Warwick Farm on Christmas Eve over 2400m carrying 57.5kg under apprentice Koby Jennings.
The meeting commences with a full field of 14 maiden three-year-old fillies in the $50,000 Happy New Year From The ATC Plate (1200m) at 1.20pm.
Randwick is currently rated a Good 3 with the rail out 6m for the entire circuit.
Sydney’s weather is forecast to be cloudy with a medium (60%) chance of showers and 24c on Wednesday and Thursday to be partly cloudy with a slight (30%) chance of showers and 28c.
