Trainer Bjorn Baker would have been delighted with the trial form of the last start winner of the G3 Hall Mark Stakes at Randwick.

Music Magnate cruised through his 1000m trial under a strong hold from rider Adam Hyeronimus to beat the Scone-trained Country Championship winner Clearly Innocent by three lengths.

He could have improved on his heat time of 59.42 seconds, running home his last 600m in 35.32 seconds.

Baker is yet to decide if Music Magnate will head to Brisbane via next week’s Scone Cup carnival.

The $140,000 Ortensia Stakes (1100m) at Scone on Saturday week is an option or he could head straight to Brisbane for the G1 BTC Cup (1200m) at Doomben on the same day.

Baker is waiting to study the entries before making his choice.

The other three open trials over 1000m at Wyong on Monday were won by Harry Hotspur in 59.65 seconds, Oxford Poet (59.2) and Goldstream (59.71).

Gai Waterhouse sent a team to the Wyong trials with her classy Doomben Cup entry Excess Knowledge finishing third in the 1000m heat won by Goldstream.

Excess Knowledge is nominated for the $350,000 Hollindale Stakes (1800m) at the Gold Coast on Saturday.

Waterhouse won four of the 23 heats at Wyong with her three-year-old Orleans and her two-year-old trio Dinky Di Dora, Rock The Mamba and Sebrarian.
