Racing and Sports finds the best-backed runners in early betting on Saturday’s meeting at Randwick.

Static Lift (Race 1) opened at each way odds but has firmed more than a point-and-a-half into $4.20 with TopBetta . The James Cummings-trained gelding faces his class test in this race but has returned in good shape this campaign with wins at Beaumont and Canterbury and there is some confidence that he can continue on his winning way.

Elle Lou (Race 6) is a well-supported favourite with consistent early backing firming her more than ahalf point to $2.70. She comes into this race in good form after a first up win and a close third, both at this track, and she has won three of her five attempts on soft going.

Smart Volatility (Race 7) is one of the more interesting runners of the day as a former Group 1-placed galloper in Hong Kong having his first Australian start and there is some money to say he can at least run into the placings. He represents good each way value at $7 after firming in about a point in early betting.

Encostanati (Race 9) has also had a trickle of money at longer odds, his price shortening about four points to a fixed odds quote of $9.50. He was beaten a long way at his first run after more than 12 months on the sidelines but he was barrier trial winner since and the money suggests he may be able to show more in this.
