Moral Victory defied his age to land a Group 2 win in the 2016 Shannon Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.
The seven year-old Moral Victory finished over the top of a gallant Caped Crusader with Cosmic Cube third.
Here’s what the jockeys had to say:Winning Jockey: Jason Collett
On the win: “It was a really good tempo early. He’s a big boy, full credit to Timmy and his team, it’s a big achievement, a Group 2 as a seven-year-old.”On advice he was given: “Darren Beadman had a bit of a chat to me after my ride for Godolphin and I’m glad he did, gave me a bit of confidence. He just said ‘ride the horse as you know it, don’t try to ride the race,’ and I’m really thankful for that.”
Beaten Jockeys:Christian Reith (Entirely Platinum): “Felt good just didn’t finish off strong.”
R Hutchings (Cosmic Cube): “Good run, he’s been beaten by two horses with a lot less weight. It was a big improvement from what he has been doing. He’s only going to get better.”
Blake Shinn (Hi World): “Very disappointing. I was happy where I lobbed in the run but I don’t think he liked the firm track today.”
Tim Clark (Old North): “Much improved run, I thought I was the winner coming to the turn but they went so fast he might have just peaked again. He can improve again.
Kathy O'hara (Caped Crusader): “Very tough effort, there was a couple of horses in the race who tried to bring him undone, they brought themselves undone, he was just beaten by a better horse today, but like I said he had a tough run.”
Jay Ford (Unequivocal): “She was good, she closed off well. Probably appreciates a bit more give in the track next time around.”
