The John Thomson-trained filly One More Honey relished the Heavy8 conditions in scoring a surprise win at $21 but it was a good effort nevertheless. She settled in third place on the rails from her inside barrier (1), got along the inner at the 300m, challenged at the 100m and finished too well to score a good win. Arctic Angel went to the front, beat off challengers at the home turn, held a good break coming to the 100m only to be overhauled in the closing stages for a good second after running a bold race at her first start in Sydney. Teaspoon settled in fifth place, one off the rails, improved (wide) at the home turn, got to fourth at the 200m and kept running on to take a sound third, her first defeat in three starts to date.
