Speedy Hawkesbury-trained filly Witherspoon is being readied for an interstate Group mission in Melbourne.

Trainer Brad Widdup plans to start Witherspoon in the G3 Quezette Stakes (1100m) for three-year-old fillies at Caulfield on August 18.

The Exceed And Excel filly blitzed her rivals when resuming over 900m at Newcastle on June 30 before a game second to the talented Godolphin colt Plague Stone in the Rosebud Prelude (1000m) at Randwick on July 21.

“Witherspoon will trial again and have a couple of gallops the reverse direction before going to Melbourne,” Widdup said.

Widdup’s classy youngster Sandbar will gallop between races at Warwick Farm, on Wednesday.

The Lonmhro Plate winner was spelled after his Golden Slipper eighth to Estijaab at Rosehill in March.

He won a 798m Warwick Farm trial on July 20, beating another high class Golden Slipper runner Santos.

Sandbar will resume in the Listed The Rosebud (1100m) at Rosehill on Saturday week.
