Too Close The Sun, Tuvalu and Mystery Shot will chase a Listed victory for Lindsey Smith at Flemington.
Warrnambool-based Lindsey Smith has three hopes of landing a second win in the VRC-CRV Winter Championship Series Final at Flemington.
Too Close The Sun, Tuvalu and Mystery Shot are set to line up in the Listed 1600m contest on Saturday looking to emulate Reykjavik's victory in 2019.
Tuvalu would appear the best hope, currently rated the $3.10 favourite with TAB, but he must overcome the widest draw.
Successful at his last start at Flemington over 1630m on June 18, Smith said Tuvalu is in perfect order for Saturday's race.
"He hasn't gone backwards but it will be his last run before he has a bit of a break," Smith said.
"He's drawn out a little, but he can have a bit of a look and see where he wants to get to.
"He got in a good position the other day, whether that happens twice, I don't know."
Smith is expecting Mystery Shot to position up a bit closer in the run after finishing fourth to his stablemate last time out.
"It was a fairly good run the other day," Smith said.
"He'll be a lot more forward. He was in that second bunch and got too far off them."
Mystery Shot is a $14 chance in latest betting with Too Close The Sun a $23 chance.
At his first start after campaigning in Perth late last year, Too Close The Sun finished last over 1420m at Flemington on June 18.
Smith said Too Close The Sun had a tough assignment that day.
"They gassed him a bit," Smith said.
"Everyone thought he'd get an easy lead and that didn't happen, and it did hurt him a bit that run, so he's got to bounce back.
"I don't care which one of them wins, as long as one of them wins."
