Australia's women's hockey side remain undefeated at the Paris Olympics after trouncing Great Britain 4-0.

Australia's women's hockey team have crushed Great Britain 4-0 to remain undefeated at the Olympic Games.

The Hockeyroos produced a powerhouse second quarter, scoring twice in less than two minutes and adding two more goals in the last period.

Rebecca Greiner and Alice Arnott converted in the second-term purple patch, Tatum Stewart scored from the penalty spot, and Grace Stewart added another in a dominant display at Yves-du-Manoir Stadium on Monday.

The Australians bank a second consecutive win in Paris with Katrina Powell's side clicking into top gear to blow the Brits away.

The industrious Greiner scored just three minutes into the second stanza with a reflex back-hander.

The opportunity came from a penalty corner - a manic goal-mouth scramble featuring three goal-line clearances followed before the ball fell to Greiner, who instinctively tapped in.

Just 90 seconds later, Arnott doubled the lead after a long aerial ball from Penny Squibb into the attacking circle was parried by British goalkeeper Miriam Pritchard.

Olympic debutant Arnott seized the rebound and blasted an accurate sweetly struck shot.

Australia's onslaught continued with Brooke Peris hitting a post and another goal disallowed before halftime, when the Hockeyroos led 2-0.

Britain rallied in the third quarter but were unable to puncture Australia's defence before the Hockeyroos iced victory in the final quarter.

The Australians were awarded a penalty when Brit Laura Roper illegally impeded Arnott taking yet another shot.

The 22-year-old Tatum Stewart stepped to the spot and scored into the right-side net.

Just nine minutes later, Greiner set up Grace Stewart with a shrewd pass and the veteran duly scored with her neat shot sneaking under a leg of British 'keeper.

Australia edged South Africa 2-1 in their Olympic opener and have pool games against the United States, Argentina and Spain to come.
