Today’s Horse Racing Tips - 25th August 2024

3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for August 25.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Goulburn, Narromine, Ballarat, Pakenham, Kalgoorlie, Hobart and Port Augusta.

GOULBURN: RACE 8 @ 5:00 PM

FORTINGALL (4) solid win on debut two starts back, before disappointing when tiring late to finish seventh over 1250m at Newcastle on August 8. Comes back in class and gets the blinkers added today. Will sit on the speed and take catching. NO SECOND THOUGHTS (9) fourth-up for this and looks desperately close to breaking through. Sat on the good tempo with the 60kg when a plugging third over 1200m at Nowra on August 12. Claim helps and no excuses here from the low draw. STRUFF (5) has been ticking over okay and lastest at Kembla was the best effort for the campaign so far. That stacks up.
SELECTIONS: Fortingall to win.

NARROMINE: RACE 4 @ 2:54 PM

ROYALE VELOUTE (8) backed up a first-up maiden win with a solid effort as favourite at Forbes when wide. Will need a bit of luck from the draw but looks hard to beat. AMANTAKA (7) has been racing well with a maiden win at Forbes and a last start third at Dubbo over this trip. Should be around the mark again. WORLD REIGN (6) wasn't expected to fire first-up but was a handy fourth after racing on pace. Can only be fitter and must be considered. AIR COMBAT (1) and DEEBUZ (10) are next best.
SELECTIONS: Royale Veloute to win.

BALLARAT: RACE 4 @ 1:55 PM

THE CUNNING FOX (3) was ultra-impressive winning a BM120 hurdle at Sandown Lakeside last time out, scoring by 12 lengths over the highly fancied Point Nepean. He looks one of the more promising jumpers and can measure right up here. RIGHT NOW (2) tackled the Grand National Hurdle last start, finishing sixth behind Affluential. He was a 14 length winner at Pakenham prior and back in trip should aid his cause. FREDDY THE EAGLE (4) was outclassed in the Grand National Hurdle last time but was in the market having won two in a row prior. Can bounce back strongly here. POINT NEPEAN (6) was no match for The Cunning Fox last time but did start favourite there and has upside. FABALOT (1) next best.
SELECTIONS: The Cunning Fox to win.

PAKENHAM SYNTHETIC: RACE 7 @ 4:40 PM

AMARYSSO (6) is still only lightly-raced and has raced in tougher grade than this in two starts since breaking the maiden in impressive style. RISHIRI (4) has been very good in two starts for the new stable and can continue on with the job. ALMIGHTY WILL (1) has shown improvement at his past two starts. RUSTY GOLD (2) can be expected to run well fresh in this grade.
SELECTIONS: Amarysso to win

KALGOORLIE: RACE 7 @ 6:05 PM

MANHATTAN STRIP (3) went close at Northam first up and then went back and disappointed as favourite (vet cleared). He will be fitter again and is proven third-up. Suited and will go close. UNCOMPROMISED (2) is also third-up and is busting to win. Draws wide but is a winning hope with average luck in the run. HIGH PRESSURE (5) led and placed here in stronger. Carries 5kg more but he will ride the speed and is sure to give a sight. DANCE OF THUNDER (4) gets the in-form hoop for the apprentice and is ready to win again. Keep onside as well.
SELECTIONS: Leaning to Manhattan Strip.

KALGOORLIE: RACE 8 @ 6:45 PM

The Peter Fernie yard holds the aces. DONT WAIT FOR LUCK (3) switched to the Fernie yard and resumed with a big heavily-bet Maiden win. He was expected to win again after and disappointed. Prepared to forgive that and he's got plenty up his sleeve. Draws awkwardly but the in-form hoop sticks. SECRET STYLE (9) switched to the same yard and led and belted the Maidens by 3.6L first-up as a short-priced favourite. Fitter and looks capable of taking the next step. LUCKY LILY (6) didn't finish it off last time but the Bunbury efforts prior read well. Maps well with a 2kg claim and she's a player. DUO MUSO (1) is racing well and has a 2kg claim today. Also maps well and she also has claims.
SELECTIONS: Leaning to Dont Wait For Luck.

HOBART: RACE 4 @ 2:06 PM

RUBBLE 'N' FUDD (3) went back-to-back spacing a CL3 field over 1200m heavily bet. The extra metres shouldn't bother and the promising gelding can deliver the hat trick. DAYAN STAR (1) comes back from the mile where he just missed a place in a 60. Newitt is reunited and has won 2/2 on the gelding. He can make the finish. MAKE A DECISION (2) was going well before a plainer effort in the Rubble 'N' Fuddle race. Gives away starts but can feature with average luck. EASTCOAST MISS (5) is up to this at best but the form has tapered off his last two. The blinkers come off and she's worth including.
SELECTIONS: Backing Rubble 'N' Fudd.

PORT AUGUSTA: RACE 6 @ 4:40 PM

SHIKANIC (3) was ticking up superbly before clearly going a miss last start at Gawler. Yet to miss the placings in over this track and trip strikes a more suitable contest and can get the job done. LANCELOTTO (2) has progressed nicely in his last couple of runs. Must raise the bar but another win is not out of the question. BROADWAY LANE (5) doesn't win out of turn but had been showing enough prior to his poor last start efforts. Holds appeal on the quick turnaround. CRY CRY BABY (9) turned in a much better effort last time out to score at Quorn. Well placed to feature if she can hold her form.
SELECTIONS: Shikanic to bounce back.
