Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for October 30.
Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Randwick Kensington, Bendigo, Balaklava, Doomben, Belmont and Launceston.
RANDWICK KENSINGTON: RACE 7 @ 5:45 PM
DARLING DOWNS (8) has returned in good order this prep for Ciaron Maher. Won her maiden first-up at Hawkesbury then started favourite but was no match for Spanish Fox last start in a 1250m BM64 at this circuit. Probably wasn't happy going back in trip that day so the step up to 1400m looks ideal. Can make amends. AGIRLSBESTFRIEND (3) made it two 1500m Port Macquarie wins in a row last time out when she stormed home from a long way back to score running away in open company. Proven in town and at the weights she looks a live chance at the hat trick. STAR ACT (5) was a touch plain second-up recently over 1250m at this track. Best figures measure up so she deserves another chance. Last start Hawkesbury winner GAI'S ARTIST (6) will probably lead and can give them something to catch. LITTLE JEANIE (2) is a smart mare who is ready to peak after a couple of decent runs to kick off this campaign.
SELECTIONS: Darling Downs to win the last.
As a FREE Racing and Sports offer, below is the Randwick Kensington Computer Card.
BENDIGO: RACE 6 @ 3:35 PM
SURE (3) clearly on top. He won his first two starts last preparation very impressively, resuming at this track and distance when beaten narrowly into third as favourite. He'll strip fitter and has more upside than his rivals. GIN O'CLOCK (2) was just ahead of Sure when they met here so must have claims. He maps well and should be thereabouts. HOWLIN' RAIN (12) has placed in both runs back from a spell, beaten just a long neck at Cranbourne over this trip second up. Gets in on the minimum here and can figure. THEOPHILUS (11) struggled over 2000m at Seymour but had been good winning two races over this route prior and can bounce back. CENTENARIO (10) is worth watching the market.
SELECTIONS: Sure to win.
BALAKLAVA: RACE 4 @ 3:50 PM
HEADPHONES (1) was much better two back at Strathalbyn when flashing home late. Went better than the form reads last start when chasing an above average one a Murray Bridge. Relishes this trip and is aided under the big weight with the 3kg claimer engaged. Leading player back at this level. SCANDALIST (3) improved sharply here last start when making light work of her maiden. Tougher this time but suggest she can give this a big shake with hot-hand hoop in Opperman sticking. RELIABLE (6) knuckled down gamely to fend off her rivals here two weeks. Not drawn as kind this time and carries more weight but deserves respect. SUGGESTIVE MISS (4) hasn't won for a very long time but is going better than her form reads this campaign. Draws kindly and gets some help under the big weight. Don't overlook. PIWHANE (7) was only warming to her task late in the piece when resuming at Penola. Fitter and could sneak into the frame.
SELECTIONS: Headphones to win.
DOOMBEN: RACE 4 @ 4:18 PM
LUTON HOO (2) seeks the hat-trick off an easy win at Ipswich over this distance. She's had a tick-over trial since and draws for a soft on-pace run. In a sharp in-form stable and the 3kg claim brings her right into it. MISS CHENERY (10) will improve off the two-placed runs at Ipswich. She was heavily bet stepping up to this distance last time and should get every chance to go one better. WHO ORDERED DAFISH (6) did a good job placing here first-up and then looked a run short over 1500m at Eagle Farm. Has figures that would see him very competitive and Callow is a key jockey engagement replacing the 3kg apprentice. SECOND SUN (8) will be fitter and maps well. He has more to offer.
SELECTIONS: With Luton Hoo.
BELMONT PARK: RACE 5 @ 7:40 PM
POND MASTER (4) steps out to this trip for the first time, though it doesn't appear it will be an issue. He was good to the line last start at Northam and Pike remaining in the saddle is a big tick. He can work across from the wide draw and prove too good for his rivals as he keeps progressing. ROCKING SOCIETY (1) was strong over further last campaign, not disgraced in a Melvista and Derby to end last campaign. His recent trial was very nice behind a horse who ran well in Listed company on Sunday. He'll suit the mile first-up and he's open to plenty of improvement. SKY GOD (5) dropped back in trip last start and nothing really went right for him. Now back out to this distance, he'll be back in the run but it'll give him time to get through his gears. Can bounce back in a big way. CRIMMO (3) is a long time between drinks but looks ready for this trip now and can feature. PROPORTRAIT (6) is another who can improve now third-up and out to this distance.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Pond Master.
LAUNCESTON: RACE 6 @ 9:00 PM
BINE (3) will be peaking third up and was only beaten by a short-head here in a 5-horse field 12 days ago. She slides back in class for this assignment and can secure the perfect sit early on from the pole position. Hard to beat this time. QUEENBOROUGH FLYER (5) did not fire in 3 starts last prep but looks to be back to something like her best after winning a recent trial without being fully tested. 3 of her 4 career wins have come on this circuit and she has also won twice fresh up in the past. Goes close. PHILOSOPHERS STONE (1) is a very competitive gelding at this level and was third last time out on the Devonport poly track a month ago. He is likely to try for the early lead and if he can find the top without using too much energy, he will be very hard to peg back. BOLD INSTINCT (2) led all the way to win here fresh up by a short head. He is dropping down a level and only has to cope with a 5.5kg weight rise, to get the one to beat again.
SELECTIONS: Bine to win.
