Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays for Australian TAB meetings on June 7.
Four TAB meetings are held across Australia on this Friday at Taree, Swan Hill, Rockhampton & Canberra.
Canberra: Race 6 @ 2:45pm
Pont De Cirou can lead from Star Dux and The Senator. THE SENATOR (2) got caught in the wrong part of the track here on the grass before making amends with a comfortable all the way win at the Riverside as favourite. The 1900m looks an ideal progression and he should be winning again for the Matt Dale yard. STARDUX (5) won the CL1 easily at Leeton and then things didn’t work out at Bathurst. She gets Ward back on can be in the finish using the low gate. FUTURE TIME (1) has been mixing his form, but has the ability and go on the solid on-speed effort here on the grass two back at this distance range. PONTCHARTRAIN (6) is still a maiden but may be best of the rest at odds. SELECTIONS: The Senator is promising and is hard to go past.

Taree: Race 3 @ 1:10pm
Whaler Bill and Totten to battle for early honours. FREE VERSE (2) made significant improvement last start when lining up for just the second time, weaving a passage along the fence to get up for 3rd over 1500m at Port Macquarie. Draws a good gate this time and with further progress can take this out. LITTLE FUNNY BUNNY (4) led the field into the straight last time in the same race as Free Verse and battled on well for 2nd, half a length ahead of today's rival. Has now raced 14 times so doesn't have the same room for improvement, but should give a good sight all the same despite the wide gate. GONE WEST (7) was handy on the corner but lacked the turn of foot required when 5th over 1200m at Port Macquarie recently. Ready for this step up in distance. HALEY'S GIRL (8) next best. SELECTIONS: #2 Free Verse has more upside than these and looks poised to break through.
Swan Hill: Race 3 @ 1:20pm
Borondino Dream will be stamped urgent from the wide gate and spear over to take it up from I Am Bruno. I AM BRUNO (9) made it two minor placings on the trot when he led but couldn't quite hang on over 1411m at Sale last start. Given a 24-day freshen up to come back in trip - will be very hard to run down this time. GOVERNOR LANDY (6) ran yet another minor placing last time, working home well to finish a distant 2nd over 1000m at the Ballarat synthetic. Drawn well and sure to be competitive again over the extra furlong. GALAXY GHOST (5) was well-supported but failed to run on when 7th on debut over 1000m at Mornington recently. Worth another chance up in distance today. CLIFFORD SNOWFLAKE (3) on debut for the new Price/Kent training partnership is worth monitoring for market support. SELECTIONS: #9 I Am Bruno is overdue - back him to win.
Rockhampton: Race 7 at 4:45pm
Expecting a genuine speed. FRENCH HUSSLER (3) was narrowly beaten at a big price here last start. Clearly still has a zest for racing. Profiles well with Wiggins climbing in the saddle. This is his bread and butter and he usually saves his best for here. Strong each-way chance. GRACIE BELLE (10) is a talent. Yet to win first-up previously but both efforts have been good. Faultless last time in. Stiff assignment against some older horses but she is clearly the one to follow from the event. CASINO THOUGHTS (1) gets a nice smother from the inside draw. Goes well here and will have plenty of supporters. SHORELINE (6) will be the strongest late. SELECTIONS: French Hussler at $3 a place.
