3 minute read

Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 5.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Tamworth, Goulburn, Ballarat, Ipswich and Carnarvon.

TAMWORTH: RACE 2 @ 12:55 PM

BOMAREA (6) resuming in easier company after racing well in town last prep. Taken to the front and nailed late when a narrow third over 1000m at Randwick in Highway grade on March 2. Undefeated first-up and since fitted with a recent 1000m trial at Beaumont Newcastle. Gets in light with the claim and will take catching. GOLD LOVER (7) races well on her home track and returned to form with a plugging second over 1000m at Dubbo on June 7. Gets map favours and can figure prominently. I'M NOT SLEW (5) consistent mare who was sent straight to the front and never headed when a 1.2 len winner over 1000m at Scone on June 23. Can win again despite rising in grade. SHAMATON (2) returns from a layoff of four-and-a-half months and will appreciate this easier assignment. Failed to run on when sixth to Millane over 1200m at Eagle Farm in BM78 company on February 17. Fitted with one trial and the 3kg claim is a bonus. Keep safe.
SELECTIONS: Bomarea to win.

GOULBURN: RACE 7 @ 3:40 PM

SWEET PROPOSAL (11) peaks off placings at Warwick Farm and Hawkesbury. She was heavily bet last time stepping up to 1500m. Maps for a soft run and the Neasham barn hase scratched a fancied stablemate. The one to beat. WEBEJAMIN (12) went well here first-up and then spiked her figures beaten a nose at Hawkesbury. That stacks up and she gives every indication the mile will suit. A player as well. ANNOINT (1) just missed at Newcastle and has more to give over this distance. Maps well and will be around the mark. The former Victorian was much better at Wagga and is also a trifecta hope.
SELECTIONS: With Sweet Proposal.

BALLARAT SYNTHETIC: RACE 4 @ 2:30 PM

AZEEZLE (11) is a colt by Exceed And Excel who ran well on debut at Bendigo over 1000m, working home well to finish a close-up fourth. Up in trip now should pose no issues and he's got plenty of upside for favourable connections. TREVENSON (5) finished a long third on debut at Bendigo over 1100m and firmer footing could suit. TRUSTING YOU (6) is a 28-start maiden so must be treated with caution, but he was good at this track and distance last start when second, beaten a head. Chance based off that effort. AIR OF AUTHORITY (1) is a gelding by Churchill on debut for the R Cully yard who can run well.
SELECTIONS: Azeezle to win.

IPSWICH: RACE 1 @ 9:07 PM

BRAVE DEEL (1) is knocking on the door of a maiden victory with two consecutive runner-up finishes including one in town last time out. Should find this task easier and looks the one they all have to run down. BACKLIT BEAUTY (8) has been thereabouts in recent efforts and will be rock-hard fit for this. Looms as the main danger. DAWN PARTY (2) has been right there at the past couple and is drawn to get across easily from gate four. Top-three conveyance who should give a big sight. FIONTE (9) has placed over this staying trip and is one for the multiples. THREE GRACES (11) is stepping up sharply in distance and any market support must be noted.
SELECTIONS: Brave Deel to break through.

CARNARVON: RACE 3 @ 3:45 PM

MIR (1) won here fresh up and then should have won his last start on this track as well after that but was held up at a vital stage when launching his final bid. He has senior hoop Alan Kennedy in the irons this time and should again be the one to beat. MOORUMBINE (3) has a handy record on this track and is ready to hit his peak fitness third-up after a couple of sound efforts on this track to open his current campaign. A good draw will help and he is set to put his best hoof forward in this. TINY'N'TUFF (7) changed stables earlier in the year and after a good run for third here fresh up, she was back in winning form last time out 3 weeks ago when arriving just in time to score by a neck. She is still very well placed in the weights after a claim and from a superior gate, she can win again. BITOVEMU (5) is an honest veteran who capped off some sound form to win at her first attempt on this circuit 3 weeks ago. An extra furlong is no problem and she can figure in the finish again.
SELECTIONS: Mir to win.
