Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 12.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Moruya, Scone, Geelong, Moe, Rockhampton and Carnarvon

MORUYA: RACE 2 @ 12:14 PM

The consistent BAMBI BELLE (7) followed an easy maiden win at the Sapphire Coast two back with a very close fourth over 1010m here last time, leading until the dying stages. Probably takes a sit outside Bleue's Choice who has drawn inside. Will give a great sight over this slightly shorter journey. SELHURST PARK (2) is down in class on recent runs and importantly steps back in trip - his two wins have both come at 900m. Not badly in after the claim and draws a good gate so he is sure to improve on recent efforts. NOBLE SERENADE (5) did nothing here first-up but can turn things around from a better barrier and the senior rider going on. SKAIFEE (8) turned in a real eye-catcher here last time out and his form at this trip reads well. RIVER FROST (1) has been in the placings at two of three first-up runs so keep him in mind fresh from a 23-week break.
SELECTIONS: Bambi Belle on top.

SCONE: RACE 5 @ 2:30 PM

SWEET PROPOSAL (13) Dundeel filly with her hoof on the till fifth-up. Stalked the speed with the 58kg when a close-up third over 1500m at Hawkesbury on June 18. This is the easiest race she's contested this time in and will take stopping. BALMIERRO (1) Randwick-trained gelding who will relish the class drop today. Sat just off the speed and plugged late when fourth over 1550m at Canterbury on June 19. Has race fitness on his side and has the speed to get across from the sticky gate. SAN GAVINO (11) best performance in four runs when back in trip for a surprise second over this track and trip on July 2. A repeat of the latest keeps her in the mix. The chances don't end there. HOMELAND (3) stretches out to the 1600m for the first time after running on late when second over 1400m at Tamworth on July 5. Look for him late on the quick back-up.
SELECTIONS: Sweet Proposal to win.

GEELONG: RACE 2 @ 12:00 PM

TYCOONETTE (13) looks ideally placed. She's a Written Tycoon filly who debuted at Sandown Lakeside last campaign when third behind the smart Et Tu Brute, starting hard in the market and beaten two lengths. Finds the right race here and will take plenty of beating. HIGHLANDS (6) is knocking on the door with three minor placings this time in, putting in the best effort of his career last start at Bendigo when second. He maps for every chance with D Lane on from the inside draw and should go close. HALF YOURS (5) resumes. He was good on debut when second at Camperdown over 1600m. May have improved and can figure. MAHSAY (11) resumes. She showed some ability in her maiden campaign and can run well here.
SELECTIONS: Keen on Tycoonette.

MOE: RACE 4 @ 12:25 PM

MARAVICH (3) draws awkwardly but presents at peak fitness off a 1.2L defeat at Sandown. Rates strongly and just needs a good ride to take beating. According to the jockey NORMA'S FLEET (12) didn't manage the track conditions at Sale and measure her ability on the near miss there three back at 64 level on the heavy. She should enjoy a soft run and is an each-way chance. MISS TRAMELL (11) went close here two back on the heavy. Will be fully fit and coming back to the mile shouldn't be an issue in a slog. DOUGAL MCKEEN (1) will be better with the run under the belt. The extra metres should suit and his heavy track form in NZ reads well.
SELECTIONS: Backing Maravich.

ROCKHAMPTON: RACE 6 @ 2:44 PM

MR TANGLES (1) is in a rich vein of form stringing four wins together on the bounce and draws low. Racing with a lot of confidence and hard to ignore winning form. PRETTY SLICK (9) has a win and four placings from six attempts over this track and trip and goes very well for Wiggins. One of the key runners. SIMBU (3) had been plying his trade in town before the spell and should find this task easier. Can run a race while fresh. MR ENCORE (6) has placed two from two at this venue and may earn another cheque.
SELECTIONS: Mr Tangles to continue the winning streak.

CARNARVON: RACE 4 @ 4:00 PM

MIR (3) has been a beaten favourite in 2 starts since winning here fresh up at the beginning of June. He was just over a length from the winner on both of those occasions and it is always a good sign when the bar plates are taken off. He drops 4 kilos in weight from his most recent effort and can set the record straight this time. Follow your money. WELD (4) is a handy veteran who still has some zest in his legs. He ran his best race this prep when third here nearly 5 weeks ago and the brief freshen-up will ensure that he will have no problem reverting back to a shorter journey. He is nicely placed after a 2-kilo claim and with the advantage of the pole position, he can run in the money again. CASTILLO DEL LAGO (5) is resuming from a spell and he has won fresh-up in the past. If he runs up to his form of old, then he is capable of a top 3 finish in this. A market watch is advised. PROTECTED ACTION (2) has battled since winning here 3 starts back but is worth another chance. Include.
SELECTIONS: Mir to win.
