Racing and Sports highlight our standout plays at Australian TAB meetings for July 28.

Australian thoroughbred TAB meetings are today held at Sapphire Coast, Sale, Casterton,Townsville, Gawler, Kalgoorlie and Hobart

SAPPHIRE COAST: RACE 3 @ 1:40 PM

KEN'KER (2) showed some promise last time in and resumed with an even effort at Goulburn in testing ground. Inclined to forgive that as he was in the market. Prime chance for him to break through. FLYING JEWEL (1) was shaping up okay with second and third runs back before a poor effort at Moruya two weeks ago. Claim helps and can improve. KICKAMUSHU (7) ran well at Moruya two starts back then not up to it at Wyong in a stronger maiden. Can wipe that run and include her in the chances. TATIANA EXPRESS (13) and MYSTIC DIVA (9) have place claims.
SELECTIONS: Ken'ker to win.

SALE: RACE 2 @ 11:55 AM

LOWLANDS (10) looks the clear one to beat. She was hard in the market on debut at Geelong but just found one narrowly better before another solid placing at Ballarat on heavy ground. Looks to have found the right race here and can get the job done. BENRIACH (2) struggled on heavy ground when in the market last start at Moe but can be forgiven for that. His form prior was solid and he should get a good run in transit. AHRKAYE (7) was just fair here first up but might be an improver. ARSENALE (8) rates a rough place hope.
SELECTIONS: Lowlands to win.

CASTERTON: RACE 3 @ 1:58 PM

HOODYS HORSE (5) has improved his form this prep and has been runner-up in both of his starts in this campaign, most recently a fortnight ago at Ballarat on their poly track. His fresh-up effort before that was on this track and he can go one better this time. OUTRO (7) is improving with each of his 3 starts and kicked on strongly to finish fifth at Warrnambool just over 2 weeks ago. The extra furlong is ideal and he is in the right sort of race to break through for his first win. LOCHDOWNE (6) is on debut and has the blinkers on. He is bred to handle a wet track and has fewer convictions than most of his rivals. The markets will be an important guide in this race. BACK OF THE BOAT (1) kept on plugging away on debut at Seymour last year and was then put aside to mature. This lineup is not strong and he can figure in the finish fresh up.
SELECTIONS: Hoodys Horse to win.

TOWNSVILLE: RACE 8 @ 5:10 PM

HELL (15) brought strong form to resumption and was beaten a whisker at Rockhampton in an Open 3. He's promising and will skip across and ride the speed. Carries a lot more weight at this level but he's proven second-up and can go one better. SHIPS AHOY (17) resumes here in solid order and the longer sprint suits. He's won second-up and maps for a soft run. Stanley is a key jockey switch. Go well. LIDDER VALLEY (2) switched from a Victorian barn and needed the first up outing at Cairns. He's good enough at best and will be much sharper over 1200m. Gets in well with the 3kg claim but gives away starts and needs luck. SUPER TWENTY THREE (18) will be around the mark building on the 55 win at Cairns. Wiggins sticking aboard is a positive.
SELECTIONS: Backing Hell to win.

GAWLER: RACE 6 @ 4:20 PM

VOLTAGE POINT (3) has been racing well without winning in tougher races, even dipping his toe in Listed grade a few starts ago. He'll relish the drop back in trip and the draw isn't too bad with his racing pattern. Both trainer and jockey are in form and this looks his race to win. SHIKANIC (2) got the job done as favourite in Port Augusta last time out, running away to score by 2L. This is a little tougher, but he rates highly off his past couple of efforts and he has the pace to offset the wide draw. Can make his presence felt. JUSTICA'S BONUS (1) was beaten 3.2L over this course and distance 11 days ago and the form out of that race has been franked already. He's drawn well and handled the heavy track last time out. Can go close again. BENE MAGIC (5) resumes without a public outing but was a good winner on debut in heavy conditions. Can make her presence felt. SHEZ BETTY (8) can improve third-up and out in trip.
SELECTIONS: Voltage Point gets the nod.

KALGOORLIE: RACE 2 @ 12:55 PM

DONT WAIT FOR LUCK (2) has showed enough in his career thus far and has now made the switch to the Brandon Fiore barn. He's trialled well coming into this and all the gear comes off him. Will appreciate this easier grade and if he runs up to what he's done in his career so far, he should be winning this. ALOTTA FIGHTING (4) surprised on debut when a big price but backed up that effort here last start when 2.3L off the winner. Back to 1200m now is no issue and he maps to get a similar run this time around. Lightly raced with upside and can take it up to the top pick. BIG PLAYER (1) has had a few goes now, though his form this time in suggests he's not far away. Just 1.1L off the winner last start as favourite with that rating stacking up nicely in this field. Expected to go close again. SASSY SKYE (9) is ticking along nicely and is not to be discounted. SOCKEYE (10) can be in front for a very long way.
SELECTIONS: Don't Wait For Luck gets the nod.

HOBART: RACE 6 @ 3:14 PM

PEROLA (2) just missed first up and then drew wide and that cost. Newitt stays with her and she should appreciate the longer sprint. Fitter and she has more to give. ASVA (1) did about what was expected first-up and was much better finding a place behind Dayan Star. He's proven third-up and has plenty up the sleeve. A threat. GEE GEES ME BOY (5) was narrowly beaten in a CL1 finding more like his best. He maps well and Pires stays aboard. Has weight relief and that brings him into it. LILY LUELLA (6) tries hard and comes back to a sprint. She's been freshened and will be around the mark.
SELECTIONS: With Perola.
