The last Saturday of the season takes place at Randwick with a solid ten-race card.
Heading to Race 7 for the best of the day where it does look Fleetwood's race to lose.
He comes back from Melbourne having missed the start horrendously two back at Caulfield when well supported, putting in a better effort in the Creswick Stakes last start at Flemington.
The win here three back over The Black Cloud cracked the 100 mark on the R&S ratings' scale, coming in at 102, and he's certainly open to further improvement. The 1100m looks an ideal spot for him and McDonald on is certainly a positive.
He holds the best peak rating of anything in this field in a long time and has more upside than any of them as well. At a touch better than even money now, he looks a fair gamble and one of the hardest to beat on the card.
The other bet I'll be having on the card is in Race 9 where The Englishman only has to repeat what he did last start to be winning this. I've always had a bit of time for this horse and he's never really gone on with some early promise, but ran a strong rating here last start behind Don Diego De Vega.
He too cracked the 100 mark with R&S last start and now finds what looks like a very weak benchmark 78 over the same track and distance, where the favourite Awash is off a narrow midweek win in Melbourne, giving away 5.5kg to The Englishman, who draws for a nice trail.
Each way odds (just) for The Englishman looks too big in a very weak contest.
