Best From The West

3 minute read

The Sharon Miller trained Sireeze has returned in great order this time in and appears set to notch up an overdue win at Belmont on Saturday.

Having proven quite unlucky last start when going down narrowly behind Rose Of Choice the son of Choisir should be right at his peak racing third up and given he is already a stakes winner he does appear very well placed on Saturday.

On best form he is rated close to seven pounds clear of his nearest rival and with that being said given he is only lightly raced there is nothing to say he can't improve further and run to a new peak this preparation.

The drop back to 1400m should suit given he is yet to miss the money in four attempts and although drawn awkwardly he should still be able to roll forward and position himself just off the speed.

Currently installed a 5-2 chance seems more than generous as although his main danger Ron's Call is improving with each start the fact is he has never previously reached the heights of Sireeze but yet still concedes weight to him on Saturday.

At the current price on offer we think he is more than a fair gamble and will gladly bet up.

The Grant Williams trained Dreamalong created a big impression on debut when upstaging the heavily supported Vampi Lass at Northam over 1400m.

A half brother to the stakes placed Shining Knight the daughter of Southern Image looks to possess plenty of ability and will no doubt have taken plenty of improvement out of her debut victory.

The George Daly trained Star Of Husson is clearly the horse to beat however she has often struggled with consistency and will be likely spotting Dreamalong a start at the top of the straight.

With the aid of Chris Parnham's two-kilogram claim she appears very well placed and is a worthy gamble at the current quote of 5-2.

We have her rated close to a 6-4 chance on Saturday and expect her to take plenty of beating.

The Adam Durrant trained Ora Dare proved successful in notching up a hat-trick of wins here last start however he does appear to have reached his mark now and is vulnerable in the last race of the day.

Lining up against a large field of 17 it is more than likely that he will get a long way back from the wide draw and be spotting the leaders too big a start to make up.

We have Miki Two Toes, Drive West, Friarday and Ocean Cracker rated as just as good a chance if not better and view Ora Dare's current price of $2.70 as poison.
