Showing good form last campaign, Pit Boss resumes from a spell at Morphettville on Saturday and looks hard to go past, especially with the 3kg claim.
Kicking off his preparation with a narrow second at Newcastle, Pit Boss went on to run well for third at Rosehill behind Koroibete before breaking through at Morphettville Parks before a spell.
The Tony McEvoy-trained runner comes into this on the back of a solid barrier trial run when second, and will only be required to carry 55.5kgs after the claim for apprentice jockey Harry Coffey.
The three-year-old gelding will get a good run from the inside draw and on what he produced last campaign is likely to prove too good for these and the current price of $3.90 looks good.
Stepping up in grade last start Thidwick The Moose ran a career peak to finish behind Lampedusa who looks set to go on to bigger things this campaign.
Only 1.5L away, the four-year-old gelding backs up in just7 days but if he runs anything near his last start effort he will be winning this.
Ridden by Ben Claridge, Thidwick The Moose does go up 3kgs but is slightly back in class and the step up to the mile is sure to suit after he hit the line very well last start.
The current price of $5 looks very good for this considering what he produced just last start and you would think a trainer like Tony McEvoy would not back him up unless he knew he could handle it.
Raks McLaren is certainly a horse going the right way and was a last start winner but has been mixing her form of late and if you take a line through her effort at Gawler two runs back the current $3.20 looks a bit short.
Stays in a similar grade to what she won in last start but goes up some 4kgs on that effort and I am willing to take her on today.
King’s Pardon who was only 0.5L away from Raks McLaren last start meets her much better at the weights today and can certainly turn the tables.
Brave Journey also returned in good order last start and is likely to be in the mix.
