Markets for the Australian Guineas look fairly screwed down but that doesn't mean there aren't good betting opportunities at Flemington on Saturday.
Elite Elle has played the role of bank-builder on many occasions (she’s a seven-time winner) and she can do so again when she returns in mares sprint.
Away from the general $2.50 chance there are few that are attracting early support and that’s probably fair enough given that only Angel’s Beach really looks to have her best in front of her.
She’s got something to find on an in-form Elite Elle, though, and at current prices the lean is to the top-weight.
Earlier on the card Macedon Lodge produce another well-bred import with a good profile.
Waxing won twice in as many attempts for Aidan O’Brien last season and looks one to go on improving.
He steps out over a suitable trip with the blinkers on, a couple of signs that the yard aren’t here to play marbles.
Given that fact, and going on his figures from Ireland, the current price on offer is more than generous enough to have a gamble.
In the last the market is dominated by an in-form Akzar and his rival from last start Extra Zero.
EZ gets the weights in his favour today but he’s now knocked together 22 straight losses over 700+ days since his latest success and is hardly one to be following.
That formline, makes little appeal, with the pair particularly vulnerable to the lightly-raced Desert Jeuney.
Happy to lay Akzar at the $2.1 but hardly interested in having Extra Zero on-side either….
