Brisbane Best - March 22

There are big fields at Eagle Farm all day and that should mean value runners for the punters.

Over the 1500m, the one horse who you could still see being competitive at black type level is Listen Son in Race 4 and so we like him here.

This gelding might be seven but he is still racing with plenty of vitality as was seen with his nose second at Doomben in an Open Handicap at 1350m.

He looks better suited at the longer trip and will be fitter. Added to that is his second up record is pretty good.

You would generally prefer a senior jockey but with the weight, the 3kg off may be of benefit as he’s a front runner which apprentices tend to ride better.

Matthew Dunn’s Ticket To Dream looks value in Race 7. She was scratched from Doomben on Wednesday for this.

Not taking any notice of the first up run over the five furlongs as the Doomben short course is a vastly different race to an Eagle Farm sprint.

She ran with good form last campaign including a win here and most of those were at Saturday level.

Her best runs are when drawing inside and while she doesn’t use the gate to race forward, it allows her to be closer than the other times when drawn out. She’ll be good odds and worth a small each way play.

In the first race, we’re thinking No Problem could go around under the odds here.

There are several big stables with youngsters engaged and could well be some quick improvers here.

He’s already had seven starts as a 2yo and while obviously racing with consistency, has to do it again. Given that he’ll get back, he will need conditions to suit. If it was quite wet, that will assist him so be wary then.
