How the track plays this Saturday will be important at Morphettville as there was some solid rain last week. We just don’t want quagmires for metro racing

Maybe the horse with most upside on the card is Tikitour who contests a 2034m (0-78) handicap against the older horses.

His prep so far has included a run too short at 1400m, a closing third in the Adelaide Guineas and a good run over 2000m at Caulfield behind Sonntag who is being considered a live chance in the Queensland Derby. We may find later that form was pretty good.

He’s now fitted right up for this race and should handle any conditions thrown up at him. If he was half a run short last time he won’t be here.

Also from the McEvoy yard is Prince Of Capers and he has his first run back in SA for a while.

He was being asked to contest much stronger events in Sydney out of Tony’s NSW base and comes off a little freshen up. When he does that he has run well in the past.

The early favourite in the betting was Almighty Bullet and while he has a chance, he’s never been beyond 1400m in his career before. Must be some query on him.

For that reason we will make Almighty Bullet the lay.

No doubt he has the ability to win a race like this but going that extra furlong is not always easily done. If it is run slowly it might help him but he is generally finishing his races off well anyway.

Should the track come up quite wet, then this lay is a little weaker as he does enjoy heavy conditions and is bred to swim. So must monitor the conditions.
