Best From The West - July 19

3 minute read

Handy filly Star Of Husson was only narrowly beaten in the Listed Belmont Oaks last start and appears poised to atone in the Belmont Classic on Saturday.

Having shown sharp improvement from her previous effort in the Listed Belmont Guineas the daughter of Husson appeared to relish the step up in trip last start when only just edged out in the finish by talented filly Tick Tick Bloom.

Successful in recording a new career peak on that occasion the Grant Williams trained galloper does appear very well placed on Saturday as a repeat of her last start effort does see her extremely hard to beat.

The in-form William Pike links back aboard having saluted in three of four prior attempts and currently strikes at 22% for the Williams stable.

WhileStar Of Husson is unplaced at her only prior attempt at this trip she was only beaten just over a length on that occasion and prior to that she did win by 3.5L over 2100m.

With the fillies allowance she receives a valuable 2kg of second favourite Proceedwithcaution which does tip the race firmly in her favour.

Currently installed marginally better than even money does appear a more than fair as if priced aggressively on her last start performance we can get her odds-on.

The Neville Parnham trained Dominating has been racing in great order this time in and appears to have struck a very suitable race on Saturday.

Having only been swamped late in the piece of the mile last start he does appear far better suited dropping back to 1300m on the weekend.

His best form to date has been seen between 1200-1400m which suggests it should suit him down to the ground.

While we do respect the Justin Warwick trained Fiddlers Elbow, just concerned how far back he will get from the wide draw and is expected to be spotting Dominating a fair start on straightening.

With little separating the two in the current market, Dominating does appear over the odds at his current quote of 3-1 as we have installed the 2-1 favourite.

He has placed in nine of 10 attempts at this track and has drawn to get the gun run with Brad Parnham sticking aboard (placed in 11/17).

If able to run up to his career peak on Saturday he does appear awfully hard to beat as his main rivals would then be required to record new peaks if they are to defeat him.
