Best From The West - July 26

3 minute read

The Ross and Clint Price trained Hop On Hop Off has continued to raise the bar with each career start and appears poised to notch up her fourth straight victory on Saturday at Belmont.

Having only tasted defeat once in her short career to date the daughter of Universal Prince has proven most impressive in recent outings and looks to have found a very suitable event on the weekend.

Stepping out in the second event, Hop On Hop Off hasn't been seen for over seven weeks and is expected to have no issue with the decision to stick at 1000m.

She has beaten four subsequent winners in her recent outings and the form through Mad Brad appears quite strong given the latter has since gone on to notch up back to back victories.

Natasha Faithfull sticks aboard on Saturday having yet to taste defeat aboard the promising filly in three prior attempts.

From the good draw she is expected to adopt a fairly forward position as there doesn't look to be a great deal of speed engaged.

Currently installed a 6-4 chance appears more than fair given we have her installed the odds-on favourite and hence are more than happy to take the price on offer.

She has displayed a sharp turn of foot during her latest three victories and if able to get a fairly soft lead out in front she should prove very hard to run down in the straight.

The Simon Miller trained Sujet faces one of his stiffest tests to date on Saturday but does present good value with the highly spruiked Smoko setting up an ideal betting race.

While obviously no knock on Smoko we do feel he has been over factored in the market on the weekend and appears well under the odds at his current quote.

Because of this we see Sujet as a great betting opportunity with up to 7-1 currently available for the improving three-year-old.

Our market has Smoko installed the 6-4 favourite with Sujet closer to 3-1 and hence presents great value at his current quote.

There have been nine subsequent winners to come out of Sujet's four starts this time in and he is expected to find a nice spot just off the speed from the middle draw.

We view the sixth event as a race in two and given the large discrepancy in the market we are more than happy to side with Sujet.

BET OF THE DAY: Race 2 #2 Hop On Hop Off @ $2.50

EACH-WAY PLAY: Race 6 #11 Sujet @ $8.00
