Smart mare Anatina finds a very winnable race in the last on Caulfield Cup Day.

Anatina has always been talented and promising and in 2014 she has gone a long way to delivering on that promise.

A fast win over Gregers in March was followed by a terrific second in the Group 1 Galaxy at Rosehill, both of those runs returning ratings that stand out heading into today’s race.

She showed herself back in fine order first-up at the C&D last month, running a narrow second and returning a rating just six pounds shy of her autumn peak.

Should she build on that today, and she is tipped to do so, then she sets the bar fairly high for her rivals here.

In all likelihood, too high.

The each way play comes in a wide open edition of the Caulfield Sprint where Thermal Current returns without a couple of key assets that may have been weighing him down.

Thermal Current may have lost his way a bit in a short autumn campaign but he looks to have been targeted at this race on his home track and his best form is good enough to see him a terrific winning hope.

Happy to bet that he is back in good order and ready to return the sort of figures that he was turning in last spring.

That makes him a worthwhile gamble at the $10 on offer early doors.
