Best From The West - February 28

3 minute read

There is plenty of quality racing at Ascot this weekend, highlighted by the unbeaten Neverland set to contest the Listed Ascot 1000 Guineas.

Trained by Grant Williams, the daughter of Big Brown has displayed above average ability in her short career to date, culminating with a new career peak last start.

Making the sharp rise from mid-week company to Listed level, Neverland proved too good, when saluting in the last stride.

Narrowly defeating her stablemate Delicacy, Neverland now appears open to further improvement stepping up in trip.

Neverland VS Delicacy - Performance Radar

Currently little separates the two on best form, however the latter possesses more upside, with Delicacy lining up for her ninth start this afternoon.

Though also lightly raced, the fact remains that it is more likely that we haven't seen the best of Neverland, rather than Delicacy.

The blinkers go on for the first time and the fact Pike sticks, also suggests she is the stable's top elect.

Installed the 7/4 favourite seems a more than fair price, as we have Neverland installed the even money favourite, with Delicacy marked $2.90.

At their current quotes, both gallopers can be backed and a profit can be had, with their current quotes suggesting they represent a $1.50 chance.

If priced aggressively, we have their chances rated a lot higher and combined rate them closer to a $1.20 chance.

The Simon Miller trained Temporise toyed with his rivals first up and can notch up his fourth straight success in the sixth event.

Successful in leading throughout, the son of Blackfriars returned a new career peak and appears set for a fruitful preparation.

He was won four of seven at this track and while drawn wide, he should roll forward and dictate from the front.

The Vaughn Sigley trained She's A Virtue is low-level flying, however she will have to raise the bar again to beat the former and that is questionable deep into her maiden preparation.

Currently installed a 2-1 chance appears more than fair and over his true of odds of winning — we have him marked 6/4.

In what is clearly a match race in two, Temporise should prove very hard to gun down.
