Racing returns to Doomben on Saturday in what looks to be a very competitive eight race program.
Hi Son and Volkhere will continue hostilities having built up a very good rivalry, running in the same race their last eight outings.
The pair has made up the quinella on five of those occasions with both resuming in the same race at the Sunshine Coast last start.
Hi Son hit the line strongly to finish second over 1400m and the step up to 1615m will suit today.
The Tony Gollan-trained runner has a very good second up record winning two of five, placing on the other three occasions.
Apprentice jockey Travis Wolfgram maintains the ride and the 2kg claim will certainly suit today and on what he produced first up looks the one to beat.
Hi Son (Race 2 #1) generally runs very well here at Doomben and has a much better record over the mile than Volkhere who will be looking for more ground than what is on offer today.
The stablemate of Volkhere, Bewhatyouwannabe has been racing well of late, placing in his last two outings and looms as a bigger danger to Hi Son, along with Paederos.
The current price of $2.60 looks pretty good for Hi Son who looks set for another big campaign.
The last race of the day will see a capacity field line up with good odds on offer for all runners in the race.
Billy Goat (Race 8 #4) has been racing pretty well for the most part of late and should be competitive at good odds today.
The Matt Kropp-trained runner finished a good second in similar company three outings back and was not far away at Kilcoy last time out.
Takes on tougher today but is proven over the mile and gets in well with the apprentice claim for Matthew McGuren.
The current price of $18 looks a very good each way bet with his effort three starts back rating well against these on weight adjusted ratings.
The current favourite Asadauskaite has produced good form in the past but has failed to win in almost a year and has not impressed in two runs for new yard.
