Promising filly Cosmic Storm steps up noticeably in grade on Saturday, but appears more than capable of taking that next at Belmont.

Lining up at just her fifth career start the daughter of Street Sense proved most impressive at the mid-weeks last start when breaking through for her maiden win over 1650m.

Settled towards the back half of the field, Cosmic Storm peeled one of the widest runners on straightening, before letting down strongly — proving too strong over the concluding stages.

Drawing clear to score by just under a length, Cosmic Storm notched up a new career peak and is clearly a filly heading in the right direction.

Using key sectional analysis, her performance held plenty of merit and she remains open to further improvement moving forward.

Remaining at the mile is some query, however the Grant Williams stable is flying this season and is striking at 27 per cent with last start winners.

Takahide Ikenushi links aboard for the first time and is enjoying his best season to date.

From the middle draw Cosmic Storm is likely to settle midfield before making her run in the straight.

Currently installed the 5-1 favourite appears a more than worthy gamble as we have marked closer to a 5-2 chance.

While it is clearly an open event, she looks well placed against the older horses and should give a bold sight at each-way odds.

The Neville Parnham trained Vital Importance overcame a wide run throughout to still win here last start and see no reason why she would take a backwards step on the weekend.

Due to line up in the third event the daughter of Vital Equine notched up her seventh win from 27 starts at her most recent outing and appears set to relish the step up in trip.

On career best form she still has a fair bit left up her sleeve and presents great value at her current quote of 3-1.

We have her marked closer to a 7-4 chance and hence are than happy to take the current price on offer.

From the gun draw she should receive a more favourable run in transit and expect her to be right in the finish.
