Beckham has been racing in terrific form of late and looks hard to go past at Doomben on Saturday.
The Liam Birchley-trained runner won well at this C/D two outings beck before tiring late to finish fourth last start.
Having won three of his last five outings, the five-year-old rates well against these on weight adjusted ratings with only the 54.5kg to carry.
Winning jockey Jeff Lloyd goes back on board for this and he should push forward again today from barrier 2.
Beckham has missed the placings just once from seven outings at the trip and $2.70 on offer looks a good bet for a horse with his form.
His won at Doomben two starts rates clear of his rivals today and looks well placed to return to the winners circle.
Earlier in the program Sky Mission (Race 6 #3) heads north for the first time having run well at Canberra recently.
Returned with a narrow second placing before going on to win over 1000m last time out.
That form reads well for a race like this and he tends to run well over these sort of distances.
Would expect the Rob Potter-trained runner to take a forward position from the good draw and the $6.50 on offer looks a good each way bet.
Ran very well to win when third up last campaign and the five-year-old gelding should be ready to fire third up today.
Only lightly raced and open to further improvement looks a big chance today.
Last week saw the bet of the day Casual Choice finish third with the each way bet Voltaire Luminere running out of the placings.
Good luck!!
