Salmanazar will look to build on his strong recent form when lining up in the Open Three-year-old Plate (1500m) at Eagle Farm on Saturday.

The Tony Gollan-trained runner drops back in grade today, following a very good run for second over 1400m in listed company at this course last start and he should find this an easier task today.

Untried over the 1500m but recent form suggests he should see out the trip and based on recent efforts looks the clear top pick.

Salmanazar put two wins together at the beginning of the preparation and has since finished runner up in his last two

Jim Byrne goes back on board and from the wide barrier would expect him to not be far away in the run with Rare Air the most likely to set the tempo.

The current price of $2.60 looks a good bet for a horse with his form and with even luck would expect him to return to the winners circle.

Main dangers look to be Sagaronne, Mr Epic and Arthur Le Roi however if Salmanazar can run up to his recent form he will prove too good for these.

Later in the programme Outraged will be looking to turn his good recent form into a win, having not been far away in all three outings this campaign.

Was slow away before hitting the line well for a close fifth at the Sunshine Coast last start after just missing when running a narrow second at Ipswich two back in similar company to this.

Likely to get back in the run again today from barrier 2 but his recent form rates well in this company and he looks a very solid each way chance.

Damian Browne goes back on board and staying over the 1600m trip again today he should be at peak fitness fourth up and ready to fire.

Sabkhat comes out of the same race and looks the main danger, although in a very open race the $7 on offer for Outraged looks a very good each way bet.

Last week saw the bet of the day Lauterbrunnen run a close up third at Doomben with the each way play I Am Boss running a disappointing seventh, seemingly not running out the 1350m.
