Morphettville hosts one of the last of the season’s black type races with the running of the traditional Lightning Stakes.
Better known as the Dermody Stakes, it is run over 1050m for the two and three year olds.
We are going for an invader here as Ocean Embers brings over form first up at Caulfield which was very good.
She was beaten some way in group races last Spring but has clearly matured. You have to like the way she finished off.
This race is no harder and on a damper track, they should be able to find the line out wide where she will be coming.
For some value there wasn’t a great deal wrong with the win of Wapping at the Gawler metro meeting.
He did start big odds but he also won by over four lengths and this may end up a similar sort of day.
He gets 2kg off for Zac Spain and draws a barrier to be wherever comfortable.
On top of all this he’s massive odds so worth a play in exotics too.
