Best From The West - November 5

3 minute read

The Team Williams trained Perfect Reflection returned in good order last start and shapes as the hardest to beat in Saturday's Group 2 Waroa-Lee Steere Stakes.

Unbeaten from her first five starts, Perfect Reflection was sent East joining Darren Weir's stable with her preparation aimed at the Group 1 Australian Guineas [1600m].

While not beaten far first up in the Group 3 Vanity Stakes [1400m], Perfect Reflection failed to fire in the Australian Guineas before sent back home.

Off the scene for 224 days, Perfect Reflection had trialled well in the lead up and while failing to salute as favourite her performance finishing third held plenty of merit.

On career best form she remains open to sharp improvement and the decision by Pike to stick aboard gives a good push for her chances.

The wide draw is awkward but she should be able to slot in midfield and from there she should be hard to hold out.

Kiwi visitor Kawi creates plenty of interest but as a result sets up the market for Perfect Reflection.

Admittedly Kawi is more than capable on best form but with 49 days between runs he is unlikely to be screwed right down and should be better for the run.

As much as $3.20 is being offered about Perfect Reflection which is a more than worthy gamble as we have marked closer to a 7-4 chance.

She is a very talented mare on her day and she can reaffirm those claims on Saturday.

The final event presents quite the challenge for punters but with each-way odds available about Cronkite we are more than willing to gamble.

Successful in bringing up the hat-trick at Belmont last start he has since been kept fresh (49 days) and rates highly on best form.

Admittedly he has drawn wide but can roll forward and should be in this for a long way.

On best form he looks to have a slight edge and we are more than worthy to have a gamble.

As a side note, TopBetta will continue its King Of The Spring tournament (Emirates Stakes Day) on Saturday ($20K Total Prize Pool) and while Belmont won't play a part it is definitely worth checking out - Click Here .
