Stella Ombra looks ready to fire third up when he lines up in the Open Handicap over 1050m at Doomben on Saturday.
Coming off two listed runs, the Kelly Schweida-trained runner had no luck first up in the Bribie before a much improved effort when running a close fourth to Snitzkraft in the Falvelon Quality.
Remaining over the same course and distance today, Stella Ombra possesses a very good third up record and proved too strong over 1200m at Randwick when third up last campaign.
Gets in well with the 1.5kg claim for Tiffani Brooker and should be able to find the box seat having finally drawn a gate (3).
The five-year-old gelding has a terrific record here at Doomben and over the shorter trip and looks ready to return to the winners circle back in grade.
Later in the day Expertea will look to continues her strong recent form when she lines up in the Benchmark 75 handicap over 2200m.
The Chris Munce-trained runner scored a good win over the 1660m at this couse two back before finishing third in a benchmark 80 over this trip at the Gold Coast last time out.
From barrier 10 with Ronnie Stewart on board, Expertea should push forward to take up the lead and based on her recent form looks right up to winning this today.
Lightly raced with just the 10 starts to her name but is building a very handy career record and the current price of $7 looks a very good each way bet.
Clearly handles the 2200m with a win and placing from two previous runs and up on the speed she will be hard to get past.
Good luck!
