Best From The West - August 11

3 minute read

Team Williams has a stranglehold over the third race at Belmont tomorrow, but happy to swing away from the market elect Red Army with State Prosecutor.

While no match for Come Play With Me at his last three starts, State Prosecutor continues to race well and confident he brings the best form on Saturday.

He refused to settle in the Belmont Classic which ultimately cost him late, however he still fought back gamely, only to be narrowly beaten.

Marked up to his peak on that occasion, he appears very well placed and with Pike electing to stick, he is clearly the one to beat.

Certainly no knock on Red Army, however he is certainly short enough in early markets ($1.55) as there looks to be little between them on talent.

Pike should be able to settle ahead of Red Army in running and as a result have to swing the race firmly in his favour.

In what looks a two horse race on paper have State Prosecutor marked clear favourite and hence definitely in his corner.

The Jason Pateman trained Atlanta Blue sets up well in the final event and can turn the tables on the well fancied Abdicator.

A model of consistency, Atlanta Blue continues to race well and arguably should have beat Abdicator last start when closing off very well late.

The race shape didn't suit Atlanta Blue and he only looks to have to repeat that level of performance to be right in the finish again.

From the inside draw he should be able to settle closer to the speed and is sure to make his presence felt with Warwick sticking aboard.
