The Team Williams trained Arcadia Queen easily lived up to her very short quote on debut when far too good at Belmont over 1200m.
Sent out the 2-7 ($1.30) favourite, Arcadia Queen was a key sectional star, settling towards the rear before gathering them up easily in the straight.
Although the bare margin was only a length, sectional mark ups suggest she had close to four lengths up her sleeve. When you then overlay that with the overall time, it suggests Arcadia Queen would be more than competitive in the Listed Belgravia Stakes later in the day.
The time figures she returned were Stakes class, case and point, she is very talented and expect her to measure right up in the better races over the Summer. The Adam Durrant trained Royal Command sets a decent marker to run at, however confident she will have his measure.
From the wide draw expect Pike to settle her towards the rear before producing her in the straight. She is bred to relish the step up in trip and if able to build on her debut win she should prove very hard to beat.
You never want to get too carried away with debut performances, however on what she displayed, she appears one of the more exciting 3YOs in Perth. The Team Williams trained Stageman was well below his best first up, however the race clearly wasn't run to suit and happy to give him another chance on Saturday.
His form at the back end of his last preparation was very good and by all reports he has come through the run in good order. From the inside draw expect him to get a much kinder run in transit and he will no doubt appreciate the step up in trip.
Only lightly raced, you'd suspect there is more to come with him and certainly have to respect his SP first up (8-11F).Better set up on Saturday and should prove very hard to beat.
