Saturday racing returns to the Sunshine Coast on Saturday with big acceptances and a ten-race card.
Race 2 sees some promising three-year-olds converge. The Paul Shailer-trained Mister Bianco looks the pick of them and gives punters a chance to build an early bank on what looks a difficult day.
The gelding debuted over 1200m at Eagle Farm on 10 July and created a great impression, closing at a rate of knots only to be denied narrowly by Data Scramble who franked the form by running a nice race in Saturday company at Doomben subsequently.
Next stop was an Ipswich maiden which he won narrowly as an easing $1.45 favourite. The tighter track didn't really suit the son of Zousain who took a while to wind up upon straightening. Although coming back 50m in trip on Saturday, the wide-open spaces and long run home at the Sunshine Coast will suit him perfectly.
Without a recognised pacemaker in the race we can expect Michael Rodd to settle reasonable close in the small field. With a little natural improvement to come he looks ready to go to a new level and take this out.
A long wait until the last for the each-way play of the day.
More Trouble was given an eight-week let-up following a failure in the 2000m Rough Habit in May and re-appeared in the Group 3 Winx Guineas over Saturday's course and distance. He showed pace that day but his condition gave out in the run home and he wound up four lengths adrift of Xidaki.
Last start there was money for the Charm Spirit four-year-old in a mile race at Doomben. He eye-balled the leader then hit the front momentarily at the furlong before again tiring on his run.
Expect those two outings to have him cherry ripe for this. There is plenty of pace on offer in the shape of Cranky Harry and The Right Way who have drawn in closer. Angela Jones can slide across and take a sit behind that pair which might be a better way to ride him – his two wins, one of them over 1600m at the Sunny Coast, came when he settled in fourth or fifth.
With just 54.5kgs in the Benchmark 78 he is a very nice each-way chance on the third line of betting.
