Listed Farnley Stakes - 7 September 2013

3 minute read

Choisir 5yo Kalahaar scored a length win in the Farnley Stakes.

Kalahaar turned the tables on his rival Settle Strada after chasing that horse home at their last two outings. He travelled along well in second last place in the ten-horse field, following a moderate tempo (first 800m 49.76).

He moved up well (wide out) rounding the home turn and put in a strong run passing the 200m. He hit the lead at the 50m and then drew clear to win well by a length.

Settle Strada, a winner of all four starts this preparation, had a good run fourth one out and one back. He looked the winner again when he hit the lead at the 200m but could not hold off the late closing winner.

Zester was sixth one off the rails to the turn, put in a run at the 300m and kept fighting on to just hold third.
