Black 'N' Tough resumed in style to claim the Tasmanian Newmarket.
Black ‘N’ Tough scored a gutsy first-up win. He moved up quickly from his outside barrier (11) but was trapped three deep outside the leaders all the way to the home turn.
He challenged at the 200m, got to the lead at the 100m and proved too strong, drawing away to win by almost two lengths. It was a very good effort.
Bocuse had a nice trip fourth between runners before switching around heels half way down the straight. He then battled on to grab second in a photo.
The Cleaner was smartly away, led the field until well into the straight and fought back gamely for third.
Geegee’s Blacklflash was back in ninth place on the rails. He improved nearing the turn, got a good run though on straightening and kept running on gamely with his top weight (60kg) to dead-heat for fourth with the favourite Rebel Bride ($2.80), who raced outside the leader, took a narrow lead at the 200m and battled on to just miss the placings, beaten two lengths.
