Black 'N' Tough grabbed her second Listed win with a gutsy performance at Hobart on Saturday.
Highly consistent mare Black ‘n’ Tough battled on gamely for a narrow but good win, her 13th win from 20 starts.
She enjoyed a good trip back in third place (about eight lengths from the leader), following a solid tempo. She made up ground approaching the turn, got an inside run on straightening and took a narrow lead at the 100m and then battled on well for a gutsy short neck win.
Geegees Blackflash was a distant fifth before making a quick run on passing the 600m. He moved up rounding the turn and after a great battle failed narrowly for a good second.
Langridge Street was a distant sixth to the 800m, improved to fifth at the turn and kept plugging in the straight for third, beaten just over four lengths.
The favourite The Cleaner ($2.25) led as expected but was pressured most of the way by Pengalas Gee Gee ($103) before the pair tired from the home turn, the latter finishing (seven lengths) fifth and The Cleaner (12 lengths) sixth in the seven-horse field.
