Listed Nudgee Quality, January 25 - Eagle Farm

3 minute read

Tukiyo grabbed her biggest win in claiming the Nudgee Quality on Saturday.

The Toowoomba-trained mare Tukiyo ($13) was very quickly away from her good barrier (2) and immediately took the lead.

She travelled along nicely in front, holding a clear lead. She fought back well when challenged half-way down the straight and then just lasted to hold off a number of late-closers to win narrowly. But it was a nice effort from the consistent mare, her fourth win in only nine starts.

Avaladyluck ($9.00) drew badly (14) and she remained near the tail of the 14-horse field to the 600m. She went deep on straightening and ran on strongly in the closing stages for (short head) second. It was a good performance.

Darlin’ Jules ($31) also drew badly (13) and also raced near the rear of the large field. She got a split at the 300m, put in a quick run at the 100m and battled on well for a close third.

Tear It Up was sixth one off the rails. She moved up wide nearing the home turn and kept making ground for a close-up fourth, beaten half a length.

The speedy Sept De Coeurs ($5 fav) was slowly away on this occasion but improved to settle about seventh. She was under pressure from the 200m and raced below her best in finishing ninth, beaten three and a half lengths.
