Consistent mare Bonaria settled in a good position, fifth on the rails, from her inside barrier.

She was travelling nicely nearing the home turn and then gained an ideal run through to third. She stuck to the rails (as the others went wide) to take the lead at the 100m and then went on to win clearly by a length.

Hazard was sixth, one off the rails to the 600m. She got a split at the turn and challenged at the 200m. She then kept battling on, holding that position to the post.

Hi Belle was seventh on the rails, went to fifth at the 200m and then kept fighting on to take the minor placing.

Angelic Lass led to the field into the straight, veered wide when challenged passing the 200m and then battled on quite well for fourth with Kneeling (fifth) after being a handy fourth most of the way to the turn.

The second favourite Arinosa ($5.00) was last in the ten-horse field to the turn, went wide on straightening but struggled in the sprint home with her top weight (59kg), being disadvantaged by a moderate early tempo (first 800m 48.37) to finish ninth, beaten four and a half lengths.
