Listed WA Breeders Classic, March 9 - Bunbury

3 minute read

Stagnite remained undefeated with a solid win in the WA Breeders Classic.

The Sharon Miller-trained three-year-old Stagnite has now raced three times for as many wins.

He was trapped wide early and made a quick move to race outside the leader at the 800m point. He went to the front on straightening and dug deep under pressure to score in a three-way photo.

The favourite Testamezzo was a bit slow to move from his good barrier (2) but recovered to settle fifth, one off the rails following a moderate early tempo (49.38). He was held up between runners nearing the turn, switched across heels after turning for home and came with a strong run to just miss in a photo for second.

Second favourite Spin Da Wheels went back from his wide barrier (9) and settled second last in the ten-horse field. He improved wide-out after passing the 800m, fanned deep at the turn and finished well to miss in a three-way photo, putting up a very good effort for third.
