Srikandi proved a class above in winning the Listed Silk Stocking on Saturday at Gold Coast.
The promising three-year-old Srikandi proved far too good for her older rivals here racing on the pace and then showing a good turn of foot in the straight to race away to an effortless two and a quarter length victory, her first at stakes level.
Srikandi is a most exciting filly and one that will undoubtedly measure up in Group company, one to watch.
La Pieta was sound in defeat. She came from ninth cluttered up between runners to finish on evenly to the line for second, overcoming a checkered passage at the top of the straight.
She was no match for the winner but it was a solid effort in defeat.
