Aldini produced a storming run from well back to claim the Spear Chief Quality.

Aldini did not show much early pace and settled near the tail of the 15-horse field.

He improved along the rails from the 600m and Craig Newitt then eased him across heels at 300m and he then came with good run to hit the lead at the 100m before drawing away for a good win.

Elmantosh travelled well just past midfield but he was blocked on turning for home. He was switched wide at the 200m, where he was giving the leader about six lengths, and then came with a good late run for second.

Choice Bro was second last to the home turn. He got through along the rails on turning for home before switching between runners at the 200m and he ran on to just grab third nearing the post.

Transporter ran on fairly well from eighth at the turn for fourth with Startsmeup also making ground for fifth.
