2014 Lander Toyota Ladies Day Cup Listed November 6 - Hawkesbury

3 minute read

Strawberry Boy wins 2014 Lander Toyota Ladies Day Cup Listed $100,000 at Hawkesbury (NSW), 1400m.

Strawberry Boy put up a very good effort resuming for new trainer Chris Waller. He was smartly away and soon crossed to race outside the leader Havana. They then went along at a strong tempo (first 800m 46.75) before Strawberry Boy drew clear on turning for home. He then fought back strongly to win by just under a length.

Monton was back in eighth place early, moved up wide from the 800m to be fifth wide out at the home turn. He then kept battling on gamely under his big weight (61.5kg) to take a very good second.

Heart Testa was last in the nine-horse field early on, moved up wide with cover from the 800m, went deep at the home turn and then ran on well for a sound third.

Kaypers was sixth to the turn and battled on for fourth (2.3 lengths) while Havana tired after sharing the lead to

the turn for fifth (6.1 lengths).

The favourite Emblems had a perfect trip in fourth place, following the tearaway leaders, but faded quickly from the turn to finish last (10 lengths). A subsequent vet examination revealed that he was suffering from cardiac arrhythmia.
