2014 Waroa-Lee Steere Stakes Group 2 November 8 - Ascot

3 minute read

Magnifisio wins 2014 Waroa-Lee Steere Stakes Group 2 $250,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 1400m.

Magnifisio settled in fourth place, one out and one back before moving up three deep approaching the home turn. She challenged on passing the 200m and kept fighting, getting to the front nearing the post to score by a long head.

Fuchsia Bandana was very smartly away and immediately took the lead. She then slowed the pace (first 800m 49.45) before grabbing a break on turning for home and was only overhauled nearing the post for second.

Platinum Rocker travelled nicely outside the leader to the turn and held on in the straight to take third just in front of the late-closing favourite Elite Belle who came from eighth at the turn, in the sprint home, to finish (2.3 lengths) fourth being unsuited by the slow early tempo.

Ihtsahymn was third on the rails to the 200m but just battled from that point to finish (2.8 lengths) fifth.
