2014 Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes Listed November 22 - Ascot

3 minute read

Black Heart Bart wins 2014 Carbine Club Of W.A. Stakes Listed $100,000 at Ascot (WA) 3yo+, 1400m.

Black Heart Bart was ridden quietly and eased to settle second last in the 12-horse field, following a solid tempo (first 800m 46.71). He improved to ninth at the 800m before fanning deep rounding the home turn. He got to fourth at the 200m and then ran on strongly to score in good style by half a length.

Second favourite Real Love went back to last from barrier ten, remained there to the 800m and was still conceding a long start to the leaders at the home turn. She then kept running on solidly in the centre of the track, coming with a late run to take second, beaten half a length.

New Time had a good run in fourth place, moved up to challenge on straightening, took a narrow lead at the 100m and then fought on for a close-up third.

The favourite Miss Rose De Lago went straight to the front, set a solid pace, holding the leadto the 200m before tiring for (1.8 lengths) fourth.
